I am going to plug paying for hosting. One host that I recommend is Web Hosting Canada (very fast customer service + bilingual + actually keeps up with cybersecurity ex. oss). I have my own account executive/liaison but I am not sure if that is standard. They provide hosting services that leverage renewable energy which was an important factor to me personally.

I used to use sendgrid.
It was free but has a limit I think.

Is this discussion about incoming mail or outgoing mail?

I use SMTP2GO.COM for all my outgoing mail. About $10/mo.

I used to run my own but I pay for it now.
I wanted reliable uptime if I wanted to play around with my router
or
other networking.
