See the issue is the white space:

The command sequence sed 's/ /,/g' way_ottawa_river.txt produces

Lac_Descheane_Sailin,,,,45.364454,,-75.877399,waypoint.wpt1,0,0,0,0,
1,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,45.378064,,-75.872455,waypoint.wpt1,0,0,0,0,
2,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,45.388889,,-75.872019,waypoint.wpt1,0,0,0,0,
3,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,45.396796,,-75.885759,waypoint.wpt1,0,0,0,0,

In other word every instance of a space is replaced with a comma. What Im
trying to do is remove the spaces and replace with a singular comman

eg: Lac_Descheane_Sailin, 45364454,-75.877399,waypoint.wpt1,0,0,0,0,

Regards
