Given we've not got a long program for this month, I suggest we take up Eric's request. About 3 years ago I prepared some notes for students at U of O on equivalent or similar apps between Windows and Linux (Win2Lin effort). There are on the web likely better and more up-to-date lists.

As a format, I propose we update the OCLUG Wiki as a live build of some information on this topic. This will also serve to remind folk about the wiki and how we can use it to promote Linux.

Could I ask for some volunteers who can be ready to make suggestions for this exercise? That is, folk who will bring along a link or similar information that we can use as material. Please email me directly to let me know so we don't clog up the list. nashjc _at_ uottawa.ca.

How about a general discussion on the needs of beginners in Linux
Me being one of them :-))

Coming from Windoz my mind is still GUI based and I have noticed on
Ubuntu forums this subject has arisen a couple of times.

Just a thought as you folks have been so helpful locally.
