Some items we need to sort out for the upcoming seminar:

1) projector. The Library does not have one. Apparently there is a screen (Mike
K will
check, but if anyone has experience of the Emerald Plaza facilities, do let us
know), but
no projector.

At the OCLUG meeting, Aaron suggested he may be able to borrow one, but we
should ensure
we have a backup. Does anyone have a) access to projector we could use or b)
knowledge of
suitable rentals?

2) publicity. Please send me and copy board with suggestions of email lists
where we can
publicise the event.

For info, the current blurb is copied below.

Note that there are approx 40 seats at the venue.

Best,

JN

Inaugural Randal Leavitt Memorial Seminar
GIMP - free/libre image manipulation software

Why spend big bucks on Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro? The GIMP runs on Windows,
Mac and
Linux. Gary Jones, Ottawa photographer and digital image specialist, will
present a
hands-on introduction to GIMP. Bring your laptop and follow the presentation.
Find
information and software at

The Leavitt Memorial Seminars are an activity of the Ottawa Canada Linux Users
Group to
promote interest in and understanding of free/libre and open-source software.
They are
named in honour of the late Randal Leavitt, who was a founder and early
President of OCLUG.

There is no charge for this event.
