When I read the newsletter from Microsoft I was  Shocked!, I say Shocked! when
I saw they were promoting a product called Unity and that people could migrate
their Unity apps to Windows 8!

Microsoft has often re-used names from other places, like XP = eXtreme
Programming, for their own purposes, and I don't like it,
but this is not an example of that.

Unity is a company producing a game development environment for Windows and
apparently for 9 other publishing platforms.

They have been around since about 2006, with blogs since 2007.
You can't copyright a single dictionary word, but AFAICT (IANAL) you can
trademark it within a narrow product range.
So Canonical came second (or more).

Now, if only you could publish to Unity from Unity, while running Unity on
Unity or even on Gnome or LXDE, that would be cool.
Although not $1500 worth of cool. <g>
