I got burned (literally) with this before. I started putting brother labels on power supplies and matching devices as a result. Luckily, I have very few of these devices left to deal with. I ended up getting one of those devices where you slide the drive in vertically and as long as it is a SATA drive, I’m good. I have kept one USB to PATA for the occasion where I might have to try to read an older drive. Cuts down on problems immensely.
