si tu es un heureux debian user et que tu utilise make-kpkg , ajoute simplement
--append_to_version -truc_chose_en_plus_comme_version et le tour est jou�.

comme je viends de faire il y a 2 sec:

make-kpkg --append_to_version -ipsec_ng_sha1 kernel-image 

(-ipsec_ng_sha1) est ajout� a la version orginale --> de 2.5.42, je passe a 
2.5.42-ipsec_ng_sha1
