Voici une note intressante : (linuxtoday)

Michael Kerpan - Subject: SuSE 8.1: a promise fulfilled ( Oct 25, 2002,
13:40:08 ) I have used SuSE for several years now -- an dhave liked it
best overall (having also looked at Red Hat, Caldera and Mandrake along the
way), but have been frustrated by the fact that some things never worked
right (or at all): no luck with a supposedly compatible scanner and digital
camera, lots of problems with a supposedly compatible USB printer, forget
about playing VCDs, ditto getting 3D acceleration to work. I suspect I could
have solved these problems, had I worked hard enough -- but I found it easier
to boot up Win98, so I could take the lazy way out. With 8.1 (unlike 8.0),
all this stuff worked, out of the box, with no extra fuss or suffering. (When
I plugged in the scanner, I got a dialog box telling me new hardware had been
detected and did I want to configure it now -- and this was fast and
painless). I have never been so delighted by a software upgrade.
True, there are still glitches. The nice GUI VCD player app worked for half a
day -- and then started failing (invariably), and rebooting doesnt cure the
problem (at least the command line player works well). And I really would
like to know why neither my old ISP dialup script nor wvdial refused to work
until I did a no-no (set suid on PPPD).
Except for some Windows games (the Talonsoft Battleground series), I don't
think I will ever need to boot Windows. So -- if someone could just tell me
how to get these to run under Wine....
