Hosted Systems Engineer (Linux Admin) - SSE/Lead
Job Description
The duties of a Hosted Systems Engineer include system administration, staging
and deployment of engineering releases to production environments in a 24X7
Internet and Hosted Applications services Network Operations Center within
Windows/SQL and Linux/Oracle operating environments.
Essential Functions:
Monitor production systems, resolve issues proactively, escalating to senior
engineers, if needed.
Support production environments including Windows Server 2000-2008, IIS, Java,
SQL 2000-2008, Linux, Apache, and Oracle.
Install, administer, and update Windows and Linux servers.
Work with engineering teams to qualify, stage and deploy releases to production.
Tactical management of and contribution to team projects, including
prioritization and multi-task assignments.
Ensure operating standards are developed, maintained, and adhere to.
Desired Profile
BS/BA degree in Computer Science
MCP/ MCSA and RHCE/ RHCT certification desired.
Minimum of 3 years related work experience.
2+ years experience in Microsoft system administration
2+ years experience in Red Hat Linux administration
Knowledge of the following:
Hosting/SaaS/ASP environments and Network Operations Center protocol, focusing
on systems performance and high availability
Server hardware systems.
Qualifying, staging and deploying of specialized software pieces into a complex
production hosting center.
Installation and base configuration of Windows and Linux servers.
Understanding of networking concepts as they apply in an enterprise-class Data
Center; complex DNS implementations, Cisco and F5 Networks networking device
experienced preferred.
Active Directory (user and computer management, Group Policy).
Web Server technologies (IIS 5-7, Apache).
Relational databases (SQL Server (2000-2008) and/or Oracle (10g RAC)) as it
relates to systems administration preferred (ability to move data in and out of
databases using simple queries)
