Hi Sir,

I am from Thane weekend batch for Linux Basic course.

I want to configure my network so that i can access Internet while I am

using Linux.

Please advise.

I have a broadband connection which asks for a user and password in Windows

XP.

Thanks,

I have attached doc with screenshots to your email id

1. In Gui mode Go to the third tab
left above “System” select network.

Do the following
2.Select - New

3.Select Xdsl connection

4.Fill the details of isp provider
name | LoginName - | Password -

5.Verify...

6.just activate ppp0
Now try Internet.

To run in bootup
$vi
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-pppoe
change On Boot to yes

If u could not get the ppoe then
u have to install

“rp-pppoe-3.8-107.1.i586.rpm”

Download from the internet
ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/ftp.opensuse.org/distribution/11.0/repo/oss/suse/i586/rp-pppoe-3.8-107.1.i586.rpm
Install
$rpm -ivh
“rp-pppoe-3.8-107.1.i586.rpm”
