It's been all those. Not working yet, and, with research, it appears it won't work exactly right, but it could work - sort of. Still sorting through all those Google hits - many of them suggesting rewriting two or more configuration files. I'm uncomfortable trying them without knowing if they are going to work, because if I use the wrong method, I suspect I'll be reinstalling. I've done that twice and, while not "hard", it's definitely time consuming and I have to hold my breath and pray each time. > Tim Fairchild wrote: > > Look at it this way. I didn't plan to run Linux, I planned to run Windows. The hardware works GREAT in XP and none of it was persnickety. I just read that they had gotten so much better (SuSe and Mandrake) about installation and hardware and decided to give it a try. So far I'm not seeing anything to convince me to buy hardware for it. It looks fine - even promising, the internet stuff is great, but it's not highly useable without a commitment to change to old hardware and a *serious* investment in time. So, I'll keep working on it and wait until my hardware is old enough to be supported and run it on this machine when it's time for a new one. I have an old machine that I tried it on in the basement. That one installed, but doesn't run. I think it doesn't have enough RAM for the GUI. ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> $9.95 domain names from Yahoo!.
