This gives us precious little information to try to deduce the problem. You don't mention how you're connected to the cable modem. USB? LAN? If it's a LAN connection, what kind of network card are you using? Furthermore, there are no "internet options in Linux," just what your distro uses. I'm assuming you mean the Internet Options settings dialog in GNOME. You also don't mention what settings you put into that dialog. We have no way of being sure they were correct. Any idea on how the status lights are working on your cable modem? Does it show that the computer is connected to the modem? Are you seeing any network activity on it?
