With the pc you have you should look into not loading everything 
because it would be A: more than you need and B: some of the desktops 
like kde and gnome would use a bit of your resources.. If memory 
serves me Redhat lets you choose server, desktop, development, etc 
environments.. This will help you pare down some of the software you 
will and wont need.. You can also choose more resource freindly 
desktops that are very attactive and easy to use.. With the server 
choice of setups you can make your choices again as web server, file 
server, print server,,,etc... Make sure you install some of the 
developement stuff like gcc and the libs so you can build programs 
you need, or just use yum or some other rpm tool... Me I prefer SUSE 
and Slackware but also use Damnsmall linux on an old p166 and Knoppix 
and Slax live cds on my harddriveless laptop... Ahh the choices are 
endless. Hmm MS cant say that... But really if you stick with Redhat, 
one distro I have never gotten along with, you can customize it as 
you wish during the setup...
