There are "fixes" for that in Windows, but at some point everyone must
decide when enough is enough for them. Welcome back. :)

My wife runs Windows. I just don't do any admin work for her any more.
(and when I say "I don't do any", I mean I do as little as possible,
and let her get into and try to dig herself out of problems). Plus, for
some people, there are apps they just "must have". My wife has an
application for her work that is Windows only, and I tried to get it to
run under wine, but I just could not. In her case, Windows (with all
of its flaws) is the correct OS at this time.

On the other hand, although she isn't very comfortable with Linux, she
is able to use my PC without problems (as are my children).
Considering I use fluxbox as a WM, this is noteworthy (I would not call
flux very "user friendly" to those who have only used Windows).
