On a different topic altogether, was looking for some thoughts on these Xandros pre-installed machines now available through Microtel:
http://www.microtelpc.com/Default.aspx?tabid=227 Of course, the come-on is that in order to get the cheap price, you have to also sign up for an Earthlink account for a year's time (total waste, obviously). Even without that part of the deal, the prices seemed ok to me. How does this compare with other Linux pre-installed machines? I've wanted to get such a machine for awhile and really try to get to to learn the world of the Penguin on a machine where I can be assured that everything is already (hopefully) optimized to run as a Linux machine, and hopefully, I won't have to spend too much time editing config files and the like (at least at the start). If anyone has any thoghts on these (or any other similar deals out there) please post and let me know. particularly if you've had a good experience you'd like to pass on. thanx.
