Thanks Joan I'll try fixing the problem with the installation CD - I dont have a rescue CD. Yes, I shut down before removing my Disk, but no, I did not unmount it before shutting down :-( I think that /dev/hdd6 might be the HD I removed, and now it is looking for it when it boots up. As I am booting up, I get the option of loging as superuser into a console, so the idea would be to find where this app. is launched from and remove the reference to hdd6. maybe this way it may continue with the booting and I save myself having to reinstall the whole thing - again.
