i am running RH 7.3 on a partition on my hdb drive. this box has both w98 and RH linux 7.3 on it. w98 is on hda (whole hard drive), with hdb split in half (one half for w98, which i am using for back-up storage and one half has RH 7.3). as far as w98 is concerned, both hard drives are functioning and both report the proper amount of space for each windoze partition.
when i want to boot into linux, i boot lilo from a floppy disk. recently, i tried to boot from the floppy and it gave me a boot error. so i .... 1. loaded in the original cd and tried to boot using linux rescue. i'm not sure what it did if anything, but it also failed and reported that i did not have any linux partitions. however, when i tried to re-boot with the floppy again, it at least made and attempt to boot but failed as it could not find "init". 2. i also tried to boot from the cd by doing an update install and it could not find hdb (only found hda). although when i made some progress booting from the floppy, it did report that i had hda and hdb. i am thinking that the floppy is still the problem, but am curious as to why the install CD could not find the partitions that are on hdb? does anyone have a clue as to how i can resurect the floppy and the hard drive partitions? thanks for the help, j ------------------------ Yahoo!
