I was in a similar position earlier this year.  Most of the bookstores 
in the smaller towns around here have more or less dropped computer 
titles (I assume because technology outdates them too fast).  Anyway, I 
went to a bigger city and found a few titles.  Most of the books I came 
across use the bash shell and it seems to be the default shell in most 
distributions.

While I can't give you a summary of the variations off hand, they are 
covered in varying degrees in most of the books I've looked at.  If it 
helps you any, the titles I have are "Teach Yourself Shell Programming" 
(Veeraraghaven), "Learning the bash Shell" (Newham & Rosenblatt), "Linux 
Shell Scripting with Bash" (Burtch) and for lots of examples, "Wicked 
Cool Shell Scripts" (Taylor).  Some of these cover variants, such as the 
Mac's Darwin and Unix in general.

And yes, as someone mentioned, there is quite a bit of information to be 
found on Google.
