Is she totally new to computers, or used to MS systems? There is
printing of course. Also some schools wind up sending students things
with weird formats--my wife, using a Mac, had to download a program to
view some files that her teacher was sending out--hrrm, I've forgotten
the format, but in MS, it opened with MS something viewer. :)

I haven't played with Mandriva in awhile, these days, recommending Mepis
or Ubuntu. There is also the possibility of Vector Linux, based on
Slack, and supposedly better suited to lower end, older hardware. I
have played with it and everything seems to work well.

I'm wondering if a 350, no doubt without that much RAM, will have
trouble with Mandriva?

On the other hand, if you're used to Mandriva, then by all means use it,
as you'll be better able to help her with the inevitable questions.
