Well, what do you have set for networking between the two?   I assume 
you are direct-connecting?  If so, what do you have set for IP addresses 
on both machines?   Can you ping?

Once you get a pingable connection between the two, perform the 
following instruction on your Linux box, and use the IP address of your 
Windows box instead of the sample IP in this command:
smbclient -L 192.168.1.102

This will prompt you for a password (I just hit ENTER), then list all 
seen 'shares' on that Windows PC.

Let us know where you are at, and where you are stuck at.
