You can get rid of it by making a connection to a DNS server possible.
This can be done either by

a) Always being connected to the Internet when logging into GNOME
b) Setting up a local DNS server with information about your computer.  

I used to have CableOne cable internet, which frequently went out, so I
got this message frequently.  After I set up a DNS server on another
computer on my local network, I haven't seen this error...
