The problem is solved. I found the appropriate RPM at www.rpmfind.net.
So I removed the tarball installed version and installed the rpm version
of Acrobat Reader for my version of SuSE Linux. I had to find the
nppdf.so file for the new install and create a new link in the Firefox
plugins directory. Everything works fine now. I can run Acrobat stand
alone or as a plugin. Thanks for trying to help.
