I'm trying to backup the entire home directory which contains the
folders of 5 users. To do this I am currently opening a terminal,
logging in as root and entering the following command:
tar -cvzf home_$(date '+%d_%m_%Y').tar.gz /home
During the process I get the occasional warnings below with regard to
some files:
Cannot open: Permission denied
Cannot savedir: Permission denied
My question is how can I backup the entire home directory as root
without getting the permission errors.
Thanks.
