Simply go to http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ and download Firefox for
Linux. It comes as a .tar.gz file. All you have to do is uncompress the
enclosed "firefox" directory to wherever you'd like it to be, and then
run it from there. If you're interested in all users having access to
it, then uncompressing it as root to a directory accessible by all would
be a good idea.
I've got mine in /usr/local/ and renamed the directory "firefox_1.5" so
that I can keep track of older installations I might have laying around.
Within the directory, the file "firefox" is the executable. So if you're
interested in pointing a Gnome launcher to the fresh Firefox install,
the path would be:
/usr/local/firefox_1.5/firefox
Of course, substitute "firefox_1.5" with whatever you've named your
directory. Hope this helps...
