No router is needed.masquerading is needed when u have an internet connection 
without permanent ip address.
  You can use iptables utility to share internet connection.Only thing u have 
to do is configure masquerading in the machine which is directly connected to 
internet .In clients just give dns servers ip address ( nearest dns servers - 
most of the cases isp).
