The best way is to try to do a single, initially simple, task.

Remember that the command "man -k keyword" will often offer you
various commands with that "keyword" in their description; you
will need to try a few keywords. Then read the manual entries for the
commands whose descriptions look like they may help.

Then try some stuff, and if it doesn't work, come back to the list with
a _specific_ question, probably phrased like:

  I'm trying to do [something], and I tried this: [some commands,
  preferably cut/paste from your terminal window], but it doesn't work
  and I get these messages (more cut/paste). Any suggestions?

It is more specific, and it lets us see what you're doing and what
happened. Then people can help you.
