Well if the upgrades are to the GNU no icons or new entires would show, but
if you download application updates the entries are already there.
 
Just drag the icon the the waste bin to delete.

Just getting started with DSL and have a couple questions.
 
1) I ran "upgrade to GNU utils" and "enable apt" both seeming to
download a number of files but no change in menu's or desk top, so how
do I start them?
 
2) For existing applications that I seldom or perhaps never will use,
how do I remove the Icon but leave it on the pull-down menu?
