-- Though Ubuntu seems to have become the rage, it leaves a lot to be desired for those newbies who want to become converts from Windows. I suggest you try Mepis and/or PCLOS instead. They are the least cumbersome if all you've ever tried, and even more so and if you're not too good at troubleshooting windoze. You can get either or both from this website by downloading its/their image file(s) and burning your own CD or by laying out a couple of bucks and have them mailed to you: <http://distrowatch.com/> In either case, should you have a dialup connection, your best bet is to invest in a USR external modem, thogh I prefer an ActionTec ex560lka[1]. It's not made in China by slave labor and it works just as well, if not better than the USR, right out of the box. Not only that, but it is cheaper in cost.
