url: http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-software-for-freedom.html quote: In 1998, some of the people in the free software community began using the term "open source software" instead of "free software" to describe what they do. The term "open source" quickly became associated with a different approach, a different philosophy, different values, and even a different criterion for which licenses are acceptable. The Free Software movement and the Open Source movement are today separate movements with different views and goals, although we can and do work together on some practical projects. > Those two are not mutually > exclusive. Linux is just the kernel and the not the operating system, this has joined with the GNU and now became the GNU/Linux operating system. So, I don't understand why you call the GNU/Linux as open source when u have the right to redistribute the codes. I am very sorry that i have used short English, I thought this is a mailing list in INDIA and the members are INDIANS. I strongly condom the way you post comments by pulling the name of a country inside. -- regards, |Prashanth| http://munichlinux.blogspot.com To unsubscribe from this list, please email [EMAIL PROTECTED] & you will be removed.
