It'll dependon how many users you'll have, but for, say, less than 50 accounts, 
you can use a pentium III with 512, and some reliable HD.... that if You plan 
to use an anti-virus on the server with antispam, and stuff...  if you won't 
use those things, then even 256 can get the job done....

  ok my brain is running wild but tonight I was talking to my techsuport 
consultant and we were talking about pop3 email options you can go with just 
the dsl line then pay a company for just email service which out here in the 
middle of no were he says runs about 20 a month so this is one idea in my head 
how hard would it be to buy an older server on bay an set up hosting my own 
email he said it can be done but how fast of a server would you need for that I 
know at least one guy on here hosts his own web page but does any one do there 
own pop 3 server how hard is it and how fast of a server is needed
