assuming that your video card is not hardware malfunctioned, try to install the ati driver from ati web, tweak your /etc/X11/xorg.conf, tweak your bios for pci-e options.
Sometimes, wrong options in /etc/X11/xorg.conf is causing the problems, try search gentoo wiki for ati problems. duckz James Jolin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Joan, The answer to your last two questions are no. I do have a 3dfx voodoo card, but it is a agp card and this Dell 8400 is a pci-e system. The card is just about 3 years old and so is probably out of warranty. I ran the Dell diagnostic cd on the card and nothing showed up. Here's what I have found so far...the mouse is allowed one click per window....that is if click on something in a window that will go...If another window is brought up the mouse clicks don't work...the tab key and cursor keys work, but that can be a hassle. Thanks for the input but for now I done.
