I got it to work with the instructions here;
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=2895086
The main problem I had was to get the right nvidia driver to work. Once I had
the right driver then the instructions worked.

Also try:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=537836&highlight=compiz+fusion
or http://fosswire.com/2007/08/11/compizfusion-updated-guide-for-ubuntu-704/

Cheers,
Roy

 I also have that graphics card, and am also not able to get the 3d effects.

 from my searching, I believe that the card is not compatable w/ the 3d

 effects.
