Yes, Ubuntu runs from the cd by default

No, for two reasons, firstly you download the cd image in an iso file 
and it is only possible to burn one such image to a cd, secondly there 
isn't really enough space on a cd for two distros.

It might be possible to rig up a dual boot dvd......
