Given what I know about how MD5 hashes work, I'm going to say that this
is not true. MD5 works on the content of the file. The file name is
not stored in the file, therefore it doesn't alter its content.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ $ md5sum Attachment.pdf
9f63ebcebcd7c4f7cf4686f75d1774a1 Attachment.pdf
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ $ mv Attachment.pdf temp.pdf
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ $ md5sum temp.pdf
9f63ebcebcd7c4f7cf4686f75d1774a1 temp.pdf
