How experienced are you? In my experience Fedora does not usually mount devices automatically. You may have to modify your fstab file. If you are a novice then this can be frustrating. I am assuming that you system does not automatically mount your usb device since you do not mention doing it graphically which would show it as a device in the file manager or as a desktop icon.
You might want to check out the Fedora help forums or look here: http://www.its.monash.edu.au/staff/systems/linux/technical/usb/usbhome-fc1.html#faq1 If all else fails use a live CD of SimplyMEPIS which detects and mounts everything, giving you read/write access to any device. Log on as 'root' with password 'root'. It can be found here: http://www.mepis.org/mirrors I do not use MEPIS now, but I keep a disk handy for doing lots of little things. It has great hardware detection, it gives access to any device and it has some good tools. If you are a novice you might want to move to an easier distro such as PCLinuxOS (RPM based) or Ubuntu/Kubuntu (DEB based). It may save you lots of time in the long run.
