You can use Photoshop and Paintshop Pro using Crossover Office. This is a program that runs inside Linux giving some Windows compatibility. You can buy it quite reasonably for $50 - 60. You can also install VMWare and set up a Windows virtual machine, as long as you have a licensed copy of Windows XP. I have used both of these with good success.
There is also a version of Gimp called Gimpshop which has more a Photoshop look and feel. I know alot of hardware manufacturers are coming on board as all my equipt I make sure compatible with Linux, a few don't care, but it seems more and more are making the right drivers and such.
