Hi Roy,

Desktop manager is Gnome and when I boot the machine I got text login screen
and ater giving root password I give the startx command to get graphical
envioronment. Keep in mind I purcahsed Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 x86_64 ,
bundle pack with Dell PowerEdge Machine. For Linux installtion, First I have to
put Dell Installation cd then installation manager calls Linux CD 1 ,2,3,4,5
and 6. After installation I got only text environment by defualt.

Futhermore During Installation I want to add more file systems but
installation manager doesn't allow me accept the default file systems i.e,
root, usr, var, tmp etc.

  Thanks
  priya.

Which desktop manager are you using? Gnome, Fluxbox, Xfce, KDE, or
any of the dozens or so of other ones? What do you see when your computer
boots? Is it just a prompt? Do you have any window managers installed? What
happens when you type startx? We need information if we are to be able to help
you.
Cheers,
Roy

what is that startx desktop? This not m$ where all malicious things

will happen without your permission.

check you installation path if you have installed some instant client

and sql developer start that passing ./<file-name> from the terminal.

If you want something in your desktop link the file to your desktop

and so that you can click that and start
