The standard way to get a file listing is to use the 'ls -R' command
which will get you a Recursive directory listing . Any FTP file server
will have a file named something like 'ls-lR.gz' which is basically a
recursive listing of everything on the server so people just download
and unzip that instead of slowly browsing the entire server. Play with
