Now this thread can finally die. I figured out what was wrong. It
appears that, right from the start, ALL S3 graphics cards AND
chip-sets have been very poorly supported with buggy drivers and
crappy chip yields in the production process. Also, the hardware
itself lacks certain things that Compiz needs to run. I think it's
something about sub-surfacing or texture multiplying that the hardware
is incapable of. I apologize if this thread was a waste of time for
some people.
