Which certification? Hopefully, you are not asking for brain dumps,
this list is pretty strict about that.

Your best bet is to go to the site of whichever certification you plan
to complete, and get an idea of their objectives. Then, google
it--there are usually plenty of study guides available. (I'm not sure
about the RedHat certs, those might be proprietary.)

How easy or difficult it will be depends upon your level of knowledge.
For example, if you've only been working with Windows, it will be a lot
of work. If you've been working with Linux systems, then from what I
understand, the LPI tests aren't too difficult, but I don't know
from experience.

I'm not sure how much this helps, if at all, but perhaps it will give
you an idea of where to look and how to start.

For others reading this---such general questions seldom get answers, or
if they do get answers, they're often as general as the question, for
example, someone might post back

http://www.google.com

There's a big difference between such a general question and something
like, for example, I'm thinking of doing the LPI certification. Has
anyone come across any really good study guides that they might
recommend?

Such a question is more likely to get helpful responses.
