Hrrm, I think we need a little more information.  

What distribution of Linux, e.g., Ubuntu, Fedora, etc. 
What version of vmware, e.g., server, player, etc--if server, which
version, 1.4 or whatever it is, or 2.0 beta?

What guest operating system have you installed?
