Every once in awhile someone posts asking for a good book on Linux. Here is a 
favorable review of a Linux book for newbies: 
http://www.linux.com/feature/144301 I haven't read it myself, but it sounded 
like just the thing for a new Ubuntu user. The review says it should be 
required reading.
