Likely the case and it cuts two ways. Popularity means more problems when
something like this happens and more critics to draw attention to it.
The good thing is that open source developers were able to resolve it so
quickly. This is a testimony to the power of the community and that the open
source collaborative model works. I am sorry for anyone affected, by it but
happy that we were able to respond so quickly and prevent further damage.
Finger pointing is inevitable. I hope that Intel and kernel developers will
work closer in the future as a result.

Yes, and SuSE also had various easily found mentions of it.

Fedora also had mention of it somewhere--never found it on their site,
but it was mentioned on the mailing lists.

In Fedora's case, I doubt it was any effort to hide it, simply their
usual lack of documentation.

I hadn't gotten the impression that Ubuntu was getting the bad press
about it, but then again, not having the card, I wasn't paying that much
attention either.

If so, it's probably simply another indication of their popularity.
There are so many Ubuntu users that more of them were probably affected
than were other distributions.
