You cannot install OS/X on a virtual machine. No VM platform supports it and Apple license prohibits it. However, it can be done as I have done it. You need to get a hacked copy of OS/X which is illegal, but available for download by torrent. I tried this for the challenge only. I did not keep the VM once installed. I would not advise you to do it due to the illegality of it. This hacked copy will allow you to run it on your non-Mac Intel chip. There are also a few things to do when installing it that are peculiar to MACS. OS/X cannot be installed to a partition. It must have its own drive. Installing OS/X on a non-Apple PC is difficult, it is even harder to install on a VM. You can get an architecture emulator such as Pear that will allow you to use an unhacked copy, I believe, but I don't know this for sure.
You can use either VirtualBox or VMWare server on the host machine. My version of OS/X was a hacked version of Tiger. I have not tried Leopard or Panther. Here is what you want: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Vmware_how_to This uses VMWare which is what I used. I now prefer VirtualBox which is easier to install and use. The same technique should work. Roy Linux: Fast, friendly, flexible and .... free!
