Hello everyone,
About two months ago, I bought a new sound card (Creative XFi Extreme
Audio) and after doing much research online and many "suggested fixes"
I still cannot get it to work properly (no sound at all). I'm running a
i386 and there doesn't seem to be a correct driver for it. Also, I'm
running Kubuntu Hardy if this helps.
The closest I can find is a file... XFiDrv_Linux_US-1.18.tar.gz, but
when trying to install it, I'm told "Setup is unable to detect a
supported product on your system". Yet, the card is being recognized
under KInfoCenter, and when right clicking the speaker icon on my
taskbar and choosing "Show Mixer Window", it is showing up as CA0160.
And although there are red "buttons" at the bottom of the input tab, no
green or yellow buttons at the top. I still have my other sound card in
and that works fine. Also, when first installing it, I took the old
sound card out, but same thing.
In the ALSA webpage, it says that the XFi card is unsupported at the
moment, but work is being done. In looking at other posts, I see others
have been having this same problem for almost two years now with these
types of cards.
Any suggestions? If it's showing up in my mixer window, does this mean
that it is supported and being recognized? Perhaps human error on my
part in getting it working?
Thanks in advance...
