Sorry in my Yahoo email the subject lines are truncated due to all the
advertising and I don't always see it all. Thanks I will try to pay closer
attention. However it would not hurt to post important info in the body of the
message where it is more likely to be seen. Not a good excuse, but rather an
explanation of how it can happen. Your point is well taken.

Errm, look at the subject. :)

(Believe me Roy, you're not the first one to do that--I remember posting
a long detailed explanation of how to do something FreeBSD and only
after I submitted the post did I realize it was in the OpenBSD section
of daemonforums. Ooops. )

For Fedora, you need livna--I'm not sure what's going on with F9 and
Livna right now though--it's merging with rpmfusion, but that might just
be for F10 at the moment.

Then you should be able to do yum -y install mplayer and it will pull in
all the codecs you need.

Go to the livna site, it has the info you need, you just have to dig
around the site a bit. You should also google for the unofficial fedora
FAQ which might have a step by step guide to it, though I'm not positive
about that.

Fedora does NOT supply any proprietary codecs, or indeed, anything like
that, such as flash and the like. How much of this is philosophical and
how much is due to being based in the US, I don't know.

However, all of it is easy to install with the livna repositories.
