  I haven't seen a version of Ubuntu that didn't offer at least three 
install options. Use entire disc, use free disk space, or manually 
partition. I haven't had Windows in quite some time but I do believe 
they now have an option of running Ubuntu in Windows......

Take another look, you may have over looked the optional partitioning 
choices.
