The link needed a little manual editing to work.

Thanks for the info, I certainly wasn't aware of it; as noted before,
I'd only come across the file manager (what the website refers to as
Rox-Filer) as part of other custom lightweight window-manager builds.
Considering that I regard full-blown Fedora distros as too
'bleeding-edge' and experimental for me, that feeling goes double for
Rox. This is real 'do-it-yourselfer' territory, but hey, that's the
true spirit of Linux (even if I don't go there myself).

Generally speaking, no distro is going to offer Rox as it's primary
desktop; it'll almost certainly have XFCE as it's primary and Rox (or
whatever) as an alternate.

If Ubuntu won't play nice with Rox, then DON'T USE IT ;) -- go with
something else XFCE-based, and install Rox within that.

Google is your friend, Drmgiver, as is the search function of
distrowatch. In addition to the two possibilities I already named,
you might also want to investigate Vector Linux and Wolvix, I have a
vague recollection that they have (or previously had) alternative WM's
as well.
