I'm one of those who no longer recommends hardware. The reason is that something worked fine for me (a Linksys USB wireless stick) but didn't for the person to whom I recommended it. My experience with most of the Linksys routers has been pretty good. I'm not so sure about about the WRT-160N, but I'm not sure if it was the router or ISP, since after changing the router I've had fewer problems, but still had some. Most routers are going to be platform agnostic--that is, it doesn't matter what the computer is using as long as it has a browser and working network cards. At this point in time, you probably do want to get an N router, as it's probably going to be standard in a year or two. I like the Dlink that I have now, the DIR-655, but it's about $20-$40 USD more than some of the Linksys routers. If you are sure you don't care about about N support, then you will probably be fine with a Linksys WRT54G. However, go back to the first paragraph--I am not necessarily recommending any of these, merely stating my own experience, and if you buy one and it doesn't work for you, it's not my fault. :) You can always look through NewEgg or Amazon and read the reviews. (Keep in mind that there will always be some people for whom it doesn't work, but look at the majority, and also try to get a feeling for how long they've had the equipment--some of these, possibly the WRT160N, work fine at first but start having problems after a month.) Hope this helps a bit, despite its lack of firm advice. -- Scott Robbins PGP keyID EB3467D6 ( 1B48 077D 66F6 9DB0 FDC2 A409 FA54 EB34 67D6 ) gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys EB3467D6 Buffy: I told you.
