As both Illustrator and Photoshop are pretty resource intensive, I
wouldn't advise trying to run those in a VM, unless you had hardware
specifically designed for it, with a great deal of RAM.

See above. Not sure about Photoshop/Illustrator in wine though (I'm not
a graphic designer, and in my last company, where we had some, they used
Macs.) I would vote against using it in a VM though, unless they've
drastically reduced their resource usage in the last couple of years.
